I'm a professional musician and guitar tutor based in the Midlothian area.
After studying classical guitar to a Grade 8 level, I branched out into Rock and Metal, with several years spent gigging and recording with Edinburgh band Holocaust.
I have taught music and guitar full-time since 2001 and although I continue to do occasional gigs and sessions, teaching has always been my main interest.
I hold a first class honours degree in music from London's Kingston University and am a member of The Registry of Guitar Tutors at London College of Music.
With over 30 years experience, I have successfully taught people of all ages and walks of life, covering most styles and levels of ability.

You know what you want to achieve. I know how to get you there. With careful long and short term goal setting, your tuition will be tailored around the things that motivate you and the time you have available.
The goal of learning any instrument is to make music. My lessons will always strive to have a musical context that you will enjoy.
The better we understand the music we love, the easier it is to play. There are many ways to improve as a musician and some don't actually involve the guitar. Expect the occasional lesson when your guitar stays in it's case - but only if your willing!
Music is a very personal thing that we all learn in different ways. Your tuition will evolve as we get to know each other better. And things can change. Your goals can change as you grow as a guitarist or you may find yourself with more or less time than previously. Adaptation is key here and as a teacher this comes with experience. Rest assured that I can always find a way to keep your music flowing for as long as you want.
